Frequently Asked Questions about Adoption:
Can I Visit A Pug?
Pug rescue of Pennsylvania does not have a facility. All rescue pugs are fostered in the private homes of our volunteers.
How Much is the Adoption Fee?
Pug Rescue of Pennsylvania has a sliding scale adoption fee based on both the age of the pug and whether or not the dog is a purebred pug or a pug mix. Keep in mind that our adoption fees reflect the cost of veterinary care, spay and neutering, vaccinations, heartworm preventions and any other medical costs. Without these adoption fees, we would not be able to continue our rescue work.
What Kind of References Should I Provide?
Your personal references should be people who know you well and have been witness to your interactions with current or previous pets or their own pets. All references must be at least 21 years of age. No application will be considered without both a veterinary reference as well as personal references. Pug Rescue of PA will contact each and every reference.
Should I Expect a Home Visit?
Home visits are a standard procedure for any reputable rescue organization. It is our responsibility to ensure the safety and welfare of all our pugs when placing them in a forever home.
To accomplish this we must verify basic information provided on the application and get a first-hand look at the potential home environment. For this reason, applications are accepted from Pennsylvania residents only. If you live outside of PA please contact your local Pug rescue. You can view the national Pug rescue list at www.pugrescue.com. WE DO NOT SHIP PUGS! – There are no exceptions.
How Does the Adoption Process Work?
The adoption process begins by sending us the completed application form to adopt a Pug. Only fully completed forms will be considered for processing and all applicants must be 21 years of age or older. If you are approved for adoption, you will be contacted by an Adoption Coordinator.
How Long does it Take?
Pug Rescue of Pennsylvania is an all volunteer organization. Keeping this in mind, please don’t expect a call or e-mail immediately after submitting an application. Time must also be given for us to contact your personal and veterinary references. You will be contacted ONLY if you are approved for adoption. You may hear from us sooner if we have questions concerning your application.
